The look

Okay, I am not obsessed with British music, series or whatever, it is just a coincide... I swear!

The song of the week is: 'The Look' by Metronomy, an  English electronic band. I actually started listening to this band two weeks ago. But I like the most about the group is Anna Prior, the drummer, very talented, beautiful and yes, she is ginger... Anyway, I am not talking about the band itself just this song of this week:

I found the rhythm very pleasant, suitable for a writing afternoon. The instrumental part at the end it is magnificent. very sticky

Now, talking about the lyrics, in my head, it represents the feeling we have when we are young,  how we can feel sometimes trap, and different. The fragility we experiment, and then the masochist thoughts no one will ever understand us, even if we are trying so hard.

'Cause you're going round in a circle
And everyone knows you're trouble'.

This is for me a representation of the idea we created of Teenagers, being trouble. Not able to adapt and then the fear of leaving something we are so familiarised and getting into a new period for our life.

The video is this adorable animation, of these seagulls playing around. Still, the video gives the sensation that one of the seagulls doesn't fit with the rest. It is kind of lost as if it is trying to adapt, but in the end, it is just gone.

'This town's the oldest friend of mine.'

A phare to think, right?

Score 9/10

  1. The look... 🤔 ok, this is one of those songs that is difficult for me to understand the meaning of the lyrics. I'm not sure what they're talking about, like Natalia said, maybe it's about the adolescence, when we're young and "trouble" (not my situation xD), or maybe about people who don't have a lot of aspirations, and that "simple" lifestyle is called conformity, people judge them, telling that they're rounding in circles, in the same situation and they won't have a successful life, but they're happy in that way.

About the song, I don't usually listen to electronic music, except when it's a combination (electrorock, electropop, etc.) but I liked the song, and the music video is funny, I loved the ducks xD

    Score: 8/10
